ALA’s primary focus is your student’s academic and personal growth. At American Leadership Academy, the goal is a well-rounded education that prepares students to succeed as global citizens, with the support system to actually get them there.
Personalized academic counseling
Every student has a different path to their diploma. ALA has highly qualified counselors who work one-on-one with each student to build a plan that fits their situation, their pace, and their goals.
Curriculum and diploma standards
ALA follows Texas State Standards set by the Texas Education Agency, known as the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The diploma ALA issues is based on the Distinguished Diploma, the highest diploma offering in the State of Texas. ALA is a Cognia accredited school.
Entrance assessment and student placement
Every new student completes an entrance assessment at the time of admission. ALA uses the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) diagnostic to place students in the right English, Math, and Science courses based on where they actually are, not just their grade level.
Students assessed at grade level start with courses for that grade. Students assessed below grade level take courses at the assessed level first, then move up to their current grade level courses.

Enrolment timing and diploma eligibility
ALA strongly recommends enrolling before 9th grade. This ensures all completed coursework counts toward the ALA Distinguished Diploma requirements.
Transfer credits from other institutions
Courses taken at other institutions in grades 9 through 12 go through a course evaluation before any credit is transferred. ALA accepts credits from accredited institutions only. The review process requires documentation of course content from the issuing school, and administration makes the final decision on equivalency.
Each course carries a credit value. A total of 26 credits or more is required to earn the ALA diploma. A full credit breakdown is available in the Curriculum tab.
